About

The Global Funk Alliance is an initiative by Michael Bendure (40 Minutes of Funk Podcast) and
Stefan Redtenbacher (Redtenbacher’s Funkestra) to strengthen the Global Funk community through new music. The idea is simple: invite musicians from around the planet to record a track on their instrument of choice and contribute it to tracks created by other musicians and stack the layers until an original song is complete. Mixed and mastered by Masterlink Productions, the final song(s) will then be made available to the public on Bandcamp. All members share in the co-write/copyright credits, and all proceeds go to a non-profit organization.

Our first single, “Funk Fishin’,” features the following musicians:

Michael Bendure (40 Minutes of Funk) aux. percussion – (USA)
Alan Evans (AE3, Soulive) – drums (USA)
Leigh Gracie (Speedometer) – guitar (UK)
Nick Etwell & Mark Brown (The Filthy Six, Mumford & Sons) – trumpet & tenor sax (UK)
Jake Mason (Cookin’ on 3 Burners) – Hammond organ (Australia)
Shawn Lee – tambourine & homemade Jankboxes (UK)
Stefan Redtenbacher (Redtenbacher’s Funkestra) – bass (UK)
